Pop icon Cher reportedly has a lover who is 40 years his junior. She calmly counters potential haters. On another subject, however, she becomes very serious.

That the powerful-voiced Cher is a queen, a category in her own right, is beyond question for her fans.

Now she is apparently treated like this in private.

A photo of music producer Alexander Edwards with a red heart appeared on the diva's account.

Another heart emoji was posted when a user asked if this was "her new man".

The 76-year-old said the music producer treated her "like a queen," adding, given the 40-year age difference, "Love knows no math." Addressing potential critics, she wrote, "I won't defend us.

The haters will hate...regardless of the fact that we're happy and not bothering anyone."

Paparazzi had recently photographed the two holding hands at a restaurant visit.

The couple is said to have met at Paris Fashion Week recently.

Edwards, 36, has been in a relationship with US model Amber Rose, with whom he has a three-year-old son.

Cher has been married twice.

With her husband Sonny Bono, who died in an accident in 1998, she has son Chaz Bono, 53. With singer Gregg Allman, who died in 2017, she had son Elijah Blue Allman, now 46.

»Make a difference, go vote!«

However, a call that Cher also posted on Twitter seems to be more important than the singer's personal relationships.

The congressional elections are just around the corner, this Tuesday Americans will elect the members of the House of Representatives and around a third of the Senate with 100 seats.

The growing radicalization of political parties is worrying observers.

For US President Joe Biden, the election could turn into a fiasco.

If the Republicans win the US Midterms, ex-President Trump will probably use this for a comeback.

Cher's appeal is correspondingly urgent: "What happens in Vegas in this election does not stay in Vegas," said the artist in a video on Twitter.

"It's going to affect the entire country." She urged her fans to go to the polls and vote for Democratic US Senator Catherine Cortez Masto from the US state of Nevada.

"She will fight for lower healthcare costs and strengthen our economy," Cher said.

Cortez Masto is a lawyer and was Attorney General.

She is the first Hispanic woman to serve in the US Senate.

Among other things, she advocates women's right to self-determination when it comes to abortion and an improved health system.

Singer Cher had repeatedly criticized Donald Trump during his tenure.

"I hate him," she said in an interview.
