Several supermarket chains are currently arguing with manufacturers about prices.
This also led to empty shelves at Rewe.
Now there's good news for coffee lovers.
Munich – Recently, customers have repeatedly found themselves in front of empty shelves in supermarkets and discounters.
This is partly due to the current disputes between supermarket chains and retailers over the prices of various products.
At the supermarket giant Rewe, an escalation in the dispute with the US group Mars caused many products to be removed from the range.
This was also the case in the price dispute between Rewe and the coffee manufacturer Jacobs Douwe Egberts (JDE).
Since a price agreement was not possible after a stubborn dispute, Jacobs apparently stopped delivering to the supermarket.
As reported by
Lebensmittel Zeitung
, Rewe informed its customers of this by posting notices on the shelves.
Rewe is again stocking shelves with popular coffee products from Jacobs
Now, as tz.de reports, coffee lovers can breathe again: Rewe has now put the coffee brands Jacobs, Tassimo, Café Hag, Maxwell House and Senseo back on the shelves.
JDE informed the
Lebensmittel Zeitung
that the manufacturer and Rewe were able to come to an agreement again "after constructive discussions".
The supermarket chain is now being supplied with the coffee manufacturer's products as usual.
Price increase at coffee dealers
In the case of JDE products, not only inflation has caused the prices to skyrocket.
As early as February 2022, coffee manufacturers like Tchibo announced that they would increase the prices for their products.
This is due to the disappointing coffee harvest in Brazil due to unfavorable weather conditions, especially drought.
Rewe recently informed its customers about a bottleneck at a well-known brand of crisps, and the price increases by chocolate manufacturer Ritter Sport are currently causing some gaps on the shelves at Kaufland and Lidl.
