Luxury lotions that smell like perfume have their appeal.
Öko-Test has tested how good these lotions really are.
Frankfurt am Main - It's the small moment of self-care in stressful everyday life: Apply lotion to your body after showering.
It can also be the body lotion that smells like your favorite perfume.
But for some products you can definitely put 30 or 40 euros on the table for a bottle of 200 milliliters.
But is that really necessary?
Body lotions in the test: luxury lotions with perfume cut "poor" from
Testers sent 35 body lotions to the laboratory for Öko-Test magazine, including three products that were scented with branded fragrances.
The result: It is better not to expect good skin care from these products.
None of these three lotions was convincing.
Öko-Test classifies your contribution to skin care as “more than poor”.
The problem with the lotions: Synthetic fats and fragrances.
The testers complained that the products with silicone oil and paraffinum liquidum mainly contain synthetic fats.
Although they make the skin feel good on the surface, they hardly contribute to the moisturizing of the skin - unlike natural oils.
In general, consumers should pay attention to the ingredients of care products: Some can even make you fat.
Öko-Test: Criticism of fragrances and synthetic fats in luxury lotions
And Öko-Test also rated the fragrances of the luxury lotions critically.
The products tested contained the fragrances Galaxolide and Cashmeran, which accumulate in human fatty tissue.
Galaxolid is also suspected of affecting the hormone system.
Fragrances should therefore also be avoided in other products.
The good news from the tests: Good skin care is available for significantly less money.
The testers can recommend two-thirds of the tested products, including all five natural cosmetics products in the test. Among others, the results of the test were rated "very good": The "Lacura body milk Classic" from Aldi Süd, the "Pure & Basic Rich Body Milk” from Netto and “Today Rich Body Milk” from Rewe.
They cost just 38 cents per 200 milliliters - less than one hundredth of the most expensive branded product in the test.
