Ibrahim and Brickell discuss ways of scientific and cultural cooperation between Syria and Chile

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Bassam Ibrahim, discussed with the Chargé d'Affairs of the Chilean Embassy in Damascus, Jose Patricio Brikel, today the prospects for scientific, research and joint cultural cooperation and ways to develop them.

Minister Ibrahim affirmed the ministry's readiness to establish joint scientific and research cooperation with the Chilean side and translate it within an executive timetable, through the most important universities in the two countries, especially in the precise disciplines related to water and natural resources, noting the scientific level enjoyed by Chilean universities.

Minister Ibrahim called for raising the level of relations between the Syrian and Chilean universities and redoubling efforts to reach the best results in joint projects, exchanging professors and sending students between universities, especially in the (Master's and PhD) stage, and establishing joint research laboratories.

In turn, Brikel gave an overview of the reality of Chilean universities and the scientific programs and disciplines they apply, stressing the need to develop and strengthen relations between Syria and Chile in the future, by visiting scientific centers to establish a research partnership between the two sides, and the exchange of professors and students for the common interest of both sides.
