In Sweden, an almond is hidden in the oatmeal on Christmas morning.
Every country has its own Christmas traditions.
When you think of Christmas in Sweden, you might think of the Christmas trees thrown out the window in the Ikea commercial.
But do you also know any culinary specialties for Christmas from the Scandinavian country?
Especially on Christmas morning there is a nice tradition from Swedish cuisine.
Swedish Christmas tradition: Little treasure hunt in the porridge on Christmas morning
Swedes like to eat oatmeal for breakfast.
Because the grain can be quickly and easily prepared into an oat porridge, called Gröt in Sweden, and provides enough energy for the day.
Even the Vikings are said to have started the day with grain groats, such as those made from rye or barley, but also oats.
At Christmas, the Swedish specialty is combined with a small but nice treasure hunt.
