The video of a Rewe market in a Hessian community causes uncomfortable feelings among TikTok users.

Nevertheless, the clip has already been clicked 1.9 million times.

Freigericht - Due to inflation and the energy crisis, the prices for many groceries in the supermarkets have risen sharply.

The so-called “shrinkflation”, i.e. less content for the same price, is also causing consumers to rage.

They think it's a rip-off - but the law doesn't prohibit the scam.

In order for customers to continue to choose their branch, Rewe, Edeka, Kaufland and Co. have to come up with something and advertise for themselves.

It is not uncommon for advertising to annoy the competition.

Discounter Lidl, for example, irritated Edeka in its advertising, which in turn reacted immediately.

Companies are also competing on social media.

On TikTok, however, the shot for a Rewe market near Freigericht (Hesse) backfired.

Rewe embarrasses itself with video on the net – “The poor employees”

The Rewe Markt Herröder has had a channel on the TikTok video platform for a long time.

In 2023, the team happily carries on and has uploaded a new video entitled "The year starts well".

In it, a woman at the cash register scans the products from the belt and asks the customer, who is played by an employee, whether he has a payback card.

He replies that he doesn't have one but would like to pay by card and then holds a greeting card up to the reader.

In the comments, the blunt joke causes malice.

"If the Ü50 believe in marketing, it will be smart," writes one user.

"Til Schweiger could not have done better," jokes another.

For one or the other user, the clip is embarrassing.

"I'll talk about that in my next therapy session," "God was that uncomfortable" or "What was Rewe thinking?" Some say.

"From this day on, I'll never go to Rewe again," concludes one user.

And the community also feels sorry for the employees.

"The poor employees, you can really see how they were forced to do it," comments one user.

Supermarkets and discounters are becoming more and more present on the internet

It is no longer unusual for German supermarkets and discounters to be online.

Kaufland, which makes perfect use of the advantages of social media, serves as a prime example, as an analysis showed.

The videos on the social media channels have also made employees famous.

For example, Elaine Victoria went from Aldi cashier to famous model.

And a Lidl cashier is also striving for the same success.

The Rewe Markt Herröder has had a channel on TikTok for a long time.

After the start of the new year, the team keeps going and has come up with a video.

The video from Rewe Markt Herröder also seems to be going viral: the TikTok clip has already had 1.9 million views (as of January 11).

Almost 15,000 people are already following the channel.

So the branch and its employees are doing everything right on the platform.
