A 21-year-old Palestinian, Ahned Abu Junaid, was killed today in the Balata refugee camp (Nablus) during an operation conducted by special Israeli units.
This was reported by the official Palestinian news agency Wafa, according to which the young man was hit by a bullet in the head and died a few hours later in a hospital.
The al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades (al-Fatah) announced that Abu Junaid was a member of their ranks.
An Israeli military spokesman, for his part, said that the soldiers, who were acting in plain clothes, were shot at and "returned fire".
In addition, Israeli military radio reported that another Palestinian who stabbed a 25-year-old Israeli civilian at a farm in the Hebron area was "neutralized" by another civilian.
According to the broadcaster's reconstruction, the assailant stabbed the Israeli twice in the chest and another Israeli who was nearby shot him dead.
