When you visit friends, you want to behave well, after all you are a guest.
Exactly inspecting foreign objects is not so welcome.
After all, it could become embarrassing for everyone involved.
In the evenings you are invited to socialize with friends in their apartment or house.
If they have just moved, you are particularly curious.
What does the new domicile of the acquaintances look like?
Women in particular like to look and see how other people have decorated their homes.
But sometimes this even goes beyond looking, some also touch furniture and objects and take the statement "feel at home" very literally.
Five things you shouldn't touch in someone else's home
But is that allowed or is it seen as impolite?

1. Fridge
It's totally fine with your best friend.
You sit together in the evening and then get something to eat or a beer from the fridge.
But if you are somewhere else for the first time, you should better refrain from reaching for the fridge or ask the host beforehand if it's okay.
2. Closed door
Not everyone wants visitors to just walk into the bedroom and take a look around.
Therefore guests should also respect if the door to such an intimate place remains closed.
Even if the host shows you around the apartment, it should always be clear: If a room is locked, you should not try to open it.
This could put the host in an embarrassing situation.
So don't invade his privacy.

3. Bathroom cabinet
Almost everyone has done it before, but it is frowned upon: opening the mirror cabinet or other chests of drawers in the bathroom.
The temptation to find out what skin care and make-up products your girlfriend or acquaintance uses is too great.
Maybe you can take a look?
But the hosts often keep ointments or creams in them for various ailments, for example hair loss or pimples.
It would be very uncomfortable for them to know that you are sniffing in your toiletries.
So keep your hands off!

4. Heating
Not only because of the current energy crisis, but also because of politeness, it's better to ask the host if you can turn up the thermostat if you're cold.
After all, you are not alone in the room, others might find the temperature in the room comfortable.
So leave the decision to the host and just take an extra sweater or cardigan with you as a precaution if you get cold quickly.
5. Closet doors
Many hosts tidy up quickly before visitors arrive and stuff all sorts of things into cracks, drawers and cupboards.
It gets embarrassing when the latter simply opens it without being asked.
After all, it could contain some very private things or hide chaos.
So do yourself and your host a favor and keep your hands off closed cupboard doors.
