A catechist was kidnapped by bandits who probably wanted to kidnap the parish priest of the Catholic church of Santa Monica, Ikulu-Pari, in Chawai Chiefdom, in the state of Kaduna, central-northern Nigeria.
According to Fides reports, the criminals attacked the parish residence of Fr.
Joseph Shekari last night, January 19th.
The bandits fired into the air, combing the buildings of the parish complex, the church, the school and the parish priest's residence in search of the priest, who however was not in the village.
Not finding the priest, the bandits seized Kefas Ishaya, a catechist, and dragged him into the bush.
