Margherita Cassano will be the first woman in Italian history to lead the Court of Cassation.
Her appointment was unanimously proposed today by the Commission for the management positions of the CSM.
The final vote was set for March 1 in a plenum session chaired by the head of state.
Currently assistant president of the Cassation, Cassano will succeed Pietro Curzio, who is about to retire.
In the past you were a professional councilor of the CSM, elected with the Independent Judiciary group.
