There are two people registered in the register of suspects after the reopening of the case for the murder 31 years ago of Matteo Toffanin, killed at the age of 23 on the evening of May 3, 1992 in Padua as he was returning from the sea with his fiancée.

As part of the reopening of a new investigation file by the prosecutor Roberto D'Angelo, the investigators are following a new lead for the motive, as reported by the local newspapers: the target of the killers was not Toffanin but a man linked to the mala del Brenta.

Just today the prosecutor will hear what is believed to be the designated victim of the killer action, Marino Bonaldo, 70 years old, with many previous criminal records, suspected at the time of having been in business with the Felice Maniero gang both in the trafficking of drugs than in robberies.

Bonaldo also lived in a building opposite Toffanin's and this would explain, together with the use of a car similar to that of the offender, the mistake of the two killers.

To motivate the murder would have been an unpaid drug consignment that would have triggered the 'punishment'.

In recent days, Toffanin's ex-girlfriend, Cristina Marcadella, had also been heard, who related her memories of the episode.

The identity of the two possible murderers, who reside in the Padua area, the investigators would have arrived at thanks to the testimonies collected: both are under investigation for voluntary homicide aggravated by premeditation.
