The masterminds are often ex-military and secret service officials who boast of being able to shake entire states with their machinations.
An international research team has now uncovered the dealings of a particularly dangerous group of manipulators from Israel - who call themselves Team Jorge.
The journalists tracked down the disinformation mercenaries as part of the »Storykillers« project, which the non-profit investigative editorial team Forbidden Stories launched after the murder of Indian journalist Gauri Lankesh.
