The Council of Ministers is convened today at 16.30 at Palazzo Chigi.
The "Department of the Economy" was born at the MEF with responsibilities "in the field of financial interventions in the economy, state shareholdings and enhancement of public assets".
This can be read in the draft of the provision for the reorganization of the ministry which ANSA has seen and which is
expected today in the Council of Ministers

In detail, it is a Regulation amending the decree of the Prime Minister of 26 June 2019.
The new Department of the Economy of the MEF will be divided into three Departments: Financial interventions in the economy;
Corporate equity investments and protection of strategic assets;
Enhancement of public assets.
This can be read in the draft of the reorganization provision arriving at today's CDM.
The first deals with "financial interventions in the various sectors of the economy, infrastructure, social support, as well as in favor of bodies, companies and public bodies and economic analysis of the related impacts";
of "public guarantees";
of "public support for export and internationalization processes; of "supervision of the Department's competence over non-banking entities and foundations;
Of "
settlement of exchange differences for payments in foreign currency and supervision of the management of treasury currency current accounts"; of "coinage, policies for the prevention of euro counterfeiting and fraud on means of payment"; supervision and relations with the Institute Poligrafico and Mint of the State; of "relations with the institutions of the European Union and with international organizations in matters of competence".
guidance, monitoring and control on the implementation of the Consolidated Law on publicly owned companies;
management of corporate, privatization and divestment processes,
as well as support for the industrial enhancement processes of investee companies;
exercise of analogous control over the in-house companies under the responsibility of the Department"; preparatory activities for the exercise of the golden power; relations with the institutions of the European Union and with international bodies in matters of competence. The Directorate for the enhancement of the public assets of instead it deals with the management of the databases created through the census of the components of the assets of the public administrations, including real estate, shareholdings and concessions of state property and services, and analysis of the information collected;
policies for the rationalization and enhancement of public assets and coordination with the administrations and public companies entrusted with the management of public buildings and state-owned assets granted under concession;
the valorisation and disposal of public real estate assets, also through the establishment of real estate funds;
the analysis of concessions, conventions and service contracts with state companies.
