(ANSA) - PALERMO, 03 APR - With five different trips by the Nemo 8 helicopter of the Coast Guard, the 32 migrants were recovered, including 4 women and 1 child, who had been stranded on the islet of Lampione since yesterday.
The decision to use the helicopter was made because at least for the next few hours it will be impossible for the patrol boats, due to the force 6 sea, to be able to approach the coast of Lampione.
The boat used by the migrants for the crossing, a small boat of about 7 meters, was not found.
Initially, the four women and the child were transferred by helicopter, then the others who had remained on the islet.
The group of 32 is made up of people from Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Guinea and Mali.
After an initial triage, everyone will be taken to the hotspot in the Imbriacola district.
