WhatsApp is working to introduce a new feature that will allow users to increase the privacy of their conversations.
As anticipated by the WabetaInfo site, the Meta-Facebook messaging client could soon launch the 'chat lock' option.
With this, users will have the opportunity to lock a single conversation, which can only be read by a fingerprint login.
"To protect your privacy, a locked chat cannot be opened without a fingerprint or passcode. Also, if someone tries to access your phone and fails to provide the necessary authentication, they will be prompted to clear the chat to open it" they explain from the site.
WhatsApp will therefore hide the chats chosen by the user, making them unreadable to prying eyes.
To date, it is already possible to block the entire application with a personal code or fingerprint, but the method identified by WabetaInfo introduces an additional level of protection applied to selected conversations.
The function can be activated directly from the information menu of the chat, both with individual and group contacts.
All conversations labeled as 'hidden' will only be visible by accessing this specific page and removed from the history list that appears when the client is opened.
Still the WabetaInfo technicians report that the photos and videos in the blocked chats will not be automatically saved in the smartphone gallery,
At the moment, the 'chat lock' option has been identified on version 2.23.8.2 of WhatsApp for Android, which is expected to be released soon.
