There are about 6 million Italians and foreign tourists who will dine out at Easter in a club or agritourism, decreeing the return to full normality after the Covid years.

This was reported by Coldiretti, underlining that the main products of tradition win more than ever, lamb meat in the first place, eggs and dove, preferred to chocolate eggs.

A trend that does not seem to be affected by the increases due to the soaring prices of raw materials and the high energy cost.

The signals from the area regarding catering in agritourisms are heading towards 'sold out' and if the weather permits, Agriturist predicts that it will be possible to achieve a 20% growth compared to last Easter.

Lamb meat is a must for 44% of families, with consumption increasing by 13% compared to last year, reports Coldiretti/Ixe' in view of an anniversary that totals most of the approximately 1.5 kilos purchased during the year.

There are many typical regional recipes, from arrosticini to pan-baked potatoes, to cacciatore, from lamb in soup to Easter meatballs with minced meat.

Cured meats are also good:

Eggs, the basis of almost all party recipes, still remain the star of the shopping cart;

Unaitalia confirms purchases for 125 million euros in Holy Week for a total of 350 million eggs.

On the podium of the regional egg-based recipes are casatiello or pastiera (26.4%), colomba (20.6%) and Easter cake (18.9%).

As for the dove, it will be present in 69% of homes (+6% compared to chocolate eggs), more often than not embellished with ancient grains, extra virgin olive oil, pomegranate, berries and honey compared to the traditional version.

A nice basket of typical products on which there are increases in wholesale price lists, notes Bmti on data from the Chambers of Commerce, due to the usual growth in demand.

The prices of

lamb have increased by 5% compared to Easter 2022, as have those of rabbit.

The annual increase for eggs is decidedly stronger, as an effect of the increases in the first 2 months of the year due to reduced product availability and the good trend in demand.

On the other hand, the prices of two must-have Easter recipe products, butter (-38%) and 00 flour (-9%), fell as a result of the decreases in the respective raw materials, milk and soft wheat, both in Italy and on foreign markets .
