Munich - Few things make children nostalgic from the 90s and late 80s as much as old video games that were available on Atari, the PC, Nintendo 64 (where a game last cost $1.5 million) or the Gamecube gave.
Of course, the world of consoles has evolved at breakneck speed.
For soccer freaks, however, one thing was certain since 2002: Soccer Manager is bought anew every year.
At FM you could immerse yourself in the world of fantasy football, lead your favorite club from the lower classes to the top of Europe and build a dynasty.
The game continued to develop every year until 2014, when EA Sports decided to discontinue its classic.

A user found his old soccer manager 2013 box and opened it with anticipation.
Real geeks know there's Lucien Favre raising his arm on the cover.
But when the user opens the case, he is frustrated to find that there is no CD-ROM inside.
"I was really happy for a brief moment, but I guess my 18-year-old self was a complete idiot," he wrote ten years later.

Hours, days, even weeks passed for many in FM gaming.
And the memories of a carefree teenage years with five-star talents, expansion of the stadium and defending the championship title with a current third division team make you nostalgic.
But just because the CD is missing doesn't mean the user has to look in the tube.

In the comment column under his Twitter post, he got the mega tip to be able to play it after all.
"You can just enter the key at EA and then play".
By the key he means the verification key that was used for authorization in the enclosed booklet.
"Boy, you're absolute king, it's downloading," said the finder of the FM box happily.
With so-called patches at fm-zocker.net, football manager enthusiasts can even weave the current squad into the old game.
So what felt like a little shock after opening the case turned out to be a big surprise after the post.
The classic Anstoss has also returned in the 2022 version, but there's a catch.
