Many still know them from television or were even present at one: we are talking about Tupper parties.

The cult company Tupperware is now on the brink of collapse.

Kassel – Tupper parties have been a well-known and successful marketing strategy for Tupperware for the past 70 years.

Now the cult company from the USA is on the brink of collapse.

Money problems became public, the share collapsed on the stock exchange.

What about the 30 year guarantee?

Stock market slump – Tupperware is once again on the brink of collapse

Tupper parties have been celebrated for decades.

Initially only in the USA, over time the trend also spilled over to Germany.

Colorful and, above all, stackable plastic boxes for storage - that is the concept of Tupperware.

However, the Orlando-based company, founded in 1946, could now be in trouble.

It was already known on Good Friday that Tupperware was suffering from acute financial difficulties.

The stock subsequently fell 49 percent on Monday (April 10).

Tupperware is currently worth just $1.24 on the stock exchange.

For comparison: in 2013 the value was almost 70 dollars.

For decades, the plastic jars were often used for sandwiches and snacks to go.

Now the manufacturer Tupperware, which has become the dictum for the boxes, is on the brink of collapse.

As early as 2018, the value of the company on the stock exchange fell significantly, and the corona pandemic then drove Tupperware into a crisis.

At that time, the ruin could just be averted, the share rose again to 30 dollars.

Whether this feat can succeed a second time in 2023 remains to be seen.

Management warned that the bills may soon become unpayable.

Nevertheless, "the company is doing everything in its power," said Tupperware boss Miguel Fernandez.

The shoe retailer Reno recently had to announce bankruptcy.

Görtz was also close to the end.

Tupperware is about to go out - what about the guarantee?

According to Tupperware, it has already hired a number of consultants and held talks with investors to raise money.

That's badly needed: In the last quarter of 2022, sales fell by 20 percent compared to the rest of the year - Tupperware had to cope with a loss of 35.7 million dollars.

In the course of the corona pandemic, the famous Tupper parties didn't materialize, but the supplier of bowls and boxes stuck to its concept.

Tupperware has only been trying to be online since 2010, but the losses cannot be compensated for by this at the moment.

On their website, Tupperware in Germany advertises a 30-year guarantee on a large number of products.

Some consumers may be wondering what would happen to this guarantee in the event of a Tupperware bankruptcy.

The company has not yet commented on the problem.

As the consumer center writes, any claims in the event of insolvency would have to be asserted against the insolvency administrator.

This could affect several thousand people.

According to the consumer advice center, it is up to him whether he then fulfills the claims: "If he rejects the claims for supplementary performance for replacement or repair, you have no choice but to register your claims against the insolvency administrator as a claim for damages in the insolvency table." The situation is different if the goods received are paid for over a longer period of time: "If you have not yet paid for the goods in full, it makes sense to offset the repair costs with the outstanding payments." According to the consumer advice center, this should also be coordinated with the insolvency administrator.
