Chiara Mastroianni has been designated as godmother of the 76th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, which this year sees three Italian films in the official competition competing for the Golden Palm: Il Sol dell'avvenire by Nanni Moretti, La Chimera di Alice Rohrwacher and Kidnapped by Marco Bellocchio.
The actress daughter of Catherine Deneuve and Marcello Mastroianni will present the opening ceremony on May 16 as well as the closing ceremony on May 27, the organizers of the Croisette specified.
Chiara Mastroianni, 50, succeeds Virginie Efira who was 'maitresse de ceremonie' in last year's edition.
