(ANSA) - PARIS, 14 APR - Chiara Mastroianni has been appointed godmother of the 76th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, which this year sees three Italian films in the official competition for the Palme d'Or: Il Sol dell'Future by Nanni Moretti , Alice Rohrwacher's Chimera and Marco Bellocchio's Kidnapped.
The actress daughter of Catherine Deneuve and Marcello Mastroianni will present the opening ceremony on May 16 as well as the closing ceremony on May 27, the organizers of the Croisette specified.
Chiara Mastroianni, 50, succeeds Virginie Efira who was 'maitresse de ceremonie' in last year's edition.
