(ANSA) - MILAN, 08 MAY - "I don't think Fontana was referring to me, I have everything but hidden the dust under the carpet.
My election campaign was also based on hiring new policemen, something we are doing."
This was stated by the mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, on the sidelines of the inauguration of the Mind Innovation Week, commenting on the words of the Lombard governor Attilio Fontana on safety in the city.
"I did not understand if more people are coming from the government, I did my part. So we wait for Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi on Wednesday," Sala added.
"What I have asked for from the beginning is an equivalent between the effort we are making to add new policemen and an equal amount of police and carabinieri, and I do not think this is happening," he concluded. (ANSA).
