People are different, some reach their destination with brains, others are talented with their hands. What about bosses? Why it's not good to have a smart boss.
Closeness and emotional intelligence, putting yourself in other people's shoes – all of these can help managers make decisions for a team. But what about intelligence in general: Is it good to have a smart boss?

When do we speak of giftedness?
From an IQ of 130, experts speak of intellectual giftedness, informs the Christian Youth Village Association Germany on its own website. However, this does not mean that the persons concerned can do everything.
The average IQ is about 100, reports the portal Arbeitsabc.
The increased intelligence does not refer to the same sub-areas in all gifted people. For example, some have mathematical or analytical skills, others are emotionally intelligent.
Often, the respective thought patterns differ in intensity – therefore, the greater the differences in intelligence quotients (IQs), the greater the expectations, accessibility and perception of people can differ. So if bosses are as intelligent as their employees, this can ultimately make them more successful overall.

Bosses with an intelligence quotient of over 120 are less effective – according to the study
Psychology professor Dean Keith Simons found in a study that supervisors with a high intelligence quotient of 120 and higher are considered less effective. The study was published in the Journal of Applied Psychology and dates back to 2017. This confirms findings from a study from 2004 – at that time data on intelligence and leadership were collected. Arbeitsabc.de informs that intelligence would help to a certain extent in managing employees, but the value of 128 should not be exceeded, as the study shows that the differences would then be too great.

What highly intelligent people can do even better
Often you can't choose the team composition completely, and some of the peculiarities or peculiarities of bosses and employees only become apparent over time. The trick is how bosses dealt with the respective situation. Accordingly, it makes sense not to isolate oneself from the team, informs Arbeitsabc.de. In the middle of the action, you are more likely to notice what is happening within the team and can use it to draw conclusions about your leadership style.
