Late paternity is not a problem for Robert De Niro. At 79, the American actor (naturalized Italian) revealed that he became a father for the seventh time. In an interview for ET Canada published on Tuesday, May 9, the 79-year-old actor opened up about parenthood, in full promotion of the comedy My Father and I (in theaters on May 31). The Godfather star then corrected her interviewer, Brittnee Blair, when she began one of her questions with "I know you have six kids." "Seven, actually," retorted the main interested party, before announcing: "I just had a baby." Without saying more.

Robert de Niro then continued his confidences by giving his vision of fatherhood. "I don't like having to make the law and that kind of thing. But we have no choice," he said. "And I think any parent would say the same thing. You always want to do the right thing for the kids and give them the benefit of the doubt, but sometimes you can't."

Seven children, several women
Robert De Niro was first married to American actress Diahnne Abbott from 1976 to 1988. The couple has two children, a son in 1976, Raphael, and a daughter, Drena, born from Diahnne Abbott's previous marriage and adopted by De Niro in 1976, at the age of 5. The interpreter of Travis Bickle in Taxi Driver then married Grace Hightower in 1997, after ten years of relationship. They welcomed a boy, Elliott, in 1998. After filing for divorce in 1999, De Niro finally renewed his marriage vows with his wife in 2004, and in 2011 welcomed a baby girl, Helen, born by surrogate. The couple separated permanently in November 2018. In 1995, Robert De Niro also welcomed twins Julian and Aaron, the fruit of his romance with model Toukie Smith. Since 2021, he has been in a relationship with a martial arts teacher, Tiffany Chen, the mother, apparently, of his seventh child.
