Highlights: An Edeka customer was in for a surprise. He discovered a bug in his product. But instead of criticizing the supermarket chain, he even thanked them for it. He posted a picture to which he wrote: "This was unexpected, thank you Edeka" But why? He had probably felt the positive effects of a production error and bought seven pretzel croissants for the price of six in his Edeka branch. He also added an emoji crying with laughter tears and a thumbs up to his tweet.

When customers shop, they rely on the labels on the products. An Edeka customer was in for a surprise.

Munich – Shopping in the supermarket or discounter always has surprises in store. Whether at Lidl, Aldi, Penny, Edeka, Kaufland, Rewe or the competition - mistakes or inconsistencies happen from time to time despite all the efforts of the staff.

For example, an Edeka customer recently found a fault in his yoghurt pot, which even the company only recognized at second glance. On the other hand, a Kaufland customer felt cheated after buying a pack of bratwurst. Even if it was probably a production defect and there was no deliberate deception.

The fact that it can also work the other way around has now been proven by the case of an Edeka customer. He discovered a bug in his product. But instead of criticizing the supermarket chain, he even thanked them for it. And for good reason.

On Twitter, he posted a picture to which he wrote: "This was unexpected, thank you Edeka." He also added an emoji crying with laughter tears and a thumbs up to his tweet. But why?

In the picture you could see an oven tray with baking paper, on it were seven blanks of a croissant. Next to the tray was the associated packaging of the frozen pastry. It was the "pretzel croissants with 22 percent butter, frozen for baking" of Edeka's own brand, as a look at the packaging revealed. At the bottom right was also the quantity, 6 pieces should be in the croissant package.

However, there were seven pretzel croissants on the baking tray – one more than the package was supposed to contain. Good luck to the hungry Edeka customer, if his statements can be believed. He had probably felt the positive effects of a production error and bought seven pretzel croissants for the price of six in his Edeka branch.

You have to be lucky, that's not how all customers in the supermarket or discounter feel. A pack of fish fingers recently caused trouble for an Aldi customer.
