Malmö will host the Eurovision Song Contest 2024

(ANSA) - ROME, JULY 07 - The city of Malmö, in southern Sweden, has been chosen by Host Broadcaster SVT and EBU to host the 68th Eurovision Song Contest in May 2024.
SVT will organise next year's competition following Loreen's historic victory in Liverpool earlier this year with the song Tattoo, becoming the first woman to win the event twice and seeing Sweden equal Ireland's record with 7 wins in total.
The final evening of the 68th Eurovision Song Contest will take place on Saturday 11 May at the Malmö Arena with the semi-finals at the beginning of the same week on Tuesday 7 May and Thursday 9 May.
Malmö holds a special place in the history of the Competition, having successfully hosted it first in 1992 and then in 2013, after Loreen's last victory. It will become the third city to host the world's largest music event a total of three times. The Swedish capital Stockholm and nearby Copenhagen have also hosted him three times. Only London, Luxembourg City and Dublin have been the venue for the event several times.
Sweden will host the Eurovision Song Contest for the seventh time in 2024, having already hosted the competition in Stockholm in 1975, 2000 and 2016 and in Gothenburg in 1985.
It is also the first time that the Eurovision Song Contest has not been based in a capital city for 5 consecutive events. (ANSA).
