The Tokyo Stock Exchange started the session higher, on the back of the consolidation of U.S. stock indices and after the better-than-expected improvement in business confidence in Japan, signaled by the Bank of Japan's Tankan index.
At the open, the benchmark Nikkei index advanced 0.42% to 32,980.54, marking an advance of 136 points. On the currency front, the yen trades at 145.30 against the dollar and just below 157 against the euro.
