For New Year's Eve, 118 has decided to strengthen the availability of emergency vehicles in view of the feared increase in road accidents and injuries linked to the use of fireworks. The reinforcement of shifts is established on the basis of the reference user.
This was explained to ANSA by Mario Balzanelli, national president of the 118 emergency emergency system, who also reports the phenomenon in the last month of an average increase in requests for help already recorded of 15% compared to last November.
"The reinforcement provided in the 118 Systems for the night of New Year's Eve - he explained - is necessary in view of the increase in illnesses and traumatic events, including fatalities. We see fatal traffic accidents at the exit of discos and injuries from shots fired from streets and balconies. Last year in Taranto a child lost his sight." Balzanelli launches an appeal: "Fireworks should be avoided at all costs. Also last year there were hand losses and irreversible eye injuries, and the use of firearms."
