Tension is rising between the coalitions one week before the end of the electoral campaign in Abruzzo which will go to the vote on Sunday 10 March.
It was Giuseppe Conte who started the engines who, on the second day of his tour in the region, in Chieti, did not limit himself to speaking to the people of Abruzzo but used the local audience to attack the prime minister on multiple fronts, from Gaza to truncheons, passing for an official defense of Mattarella.
"Carnage is taking place in Gaza and Meloni's post is hypocritical," he said, referring to the possibility of a ceasefire.
Not only that: Conte also accused Meloni of going to Washington to Biden for "updates on instructions", and called for the immediate start of peace negotiations.
"Are you angry with the President of the Republic? - he then added, still referring to Pisa - say it clearly if you have the courage. Or then deny it. Because since we are interpreting your words like this, you deny it and say: 'you don't have it I have it. If he leaves everything like this, in ambiguity, I think it is also cowardly on the part of the Prime Minister."
Then the attack against the outgoing governor Marsilio: "You cannot lead a region in smart working", referring to Marsilio's 'Roman-ness' as opposed to the Abruzzo-ness of the centre-left challenger Luciano D'Amico.
On the doubling of the Roma-Pescara match he then said: "I would have been ashamed as Prime Minister, a few days before the vote, to refinance a defunding that had been the Government's fault".
That Abruzzo is at the center of the political debate was also confirmed by Matteo Salvini, who instead spread optimism from Lecco: "I am absolutely confident and in my opinion in Abruzzo we win and we win well", but precisely on the subject of elections he wanted reiterate his idea on the third term.
It should be the citizens who decide, but "if we are the only ones who think like this I take note of it even if it would be a limitation of choice and democracy for citizens".
During the intense day of the electoral campaign, the back-and-forth between Marsilio and the new president of Sardinia should also be noted: "Todde in Abruzzo to help D'Amico? I would have preferred to see her when she was undersecretary for production activities and we needed to solve the problems of our companies , but the government didn't give us a hand."
The reply was immediate: "Marsilio attacks me by saying that I was absent as undersecretary? He should ask the mayors of Abruzzo, the social partners, the local workers who I met and received every time I convened the crisis tables at the MiSE".
