The People's Assembly today, at its twentieth session of the 11th ordinary session of the second legislative session, chaired by Speaker Hamouda Sabbagh, discussed the new draft law on the Artists Syndicate to replace Law No. 13 of 1990.
The Council approved all the articles of Chapter Two related to the Syndicate Council except Article (28), where they were returned to the Education, Scientific and Research Committee for consideration because of the majority's refusal to vote on them. The term of office of the Bar Council shall be for a period of five years and a president, deputy secretary, treasurer and treasurer shall be elected from among its members in accordance with the conditions and elements of full-time determined by the General Conference. Full-time may be more than one member of the Council of the union as needed and determined by the General Conference rules of this full-time salaries and compensation of full-time.
The rules of procedure of the union shall be determined in accordance with the articles voted on by the members of the union and the distribution of work among its members. In the syndicate, managing and investing the syndicate's funds and property, collecting the fees and financial obligations due to it, setting up an annual work plan for the syndicate, following up its implementation, forming test committees to accept apprentices, and authorizing television, theater and cinema works. In the private sector, organizing and supervising them in public places and participating in committees that set the tariffs of artists covered by the provisions of this law with the public authorities and the establishment of a minimum tariff for contracted artists to work for the private and joint sectors, support the artist and develop local art in all areas of practicing artistic professions.
The Council also approved the third chapter related to the branches of the syndicate, which includes the establishment of a branch of the syndicate in each province of not less than thirty members and registered in the union's register of thirty-five members and in the absence of a branch of the syndicate in the province join the artists in this province to the branch located in a neighboring province From the Guild Council.
The session, which was attended by Minister of Culture Mohammed Al-Ahmad and State for Parliamentary Affairs Abdullah Abdullah, was adjourned until 12:00 on Sunday 10 November.
