The Palestinian Foreign Ministry called on the international community to pressure the Israeli occupation authorities to immediately release the sick prisoner Sami Abu Diak, who is in danger of death.
The Foreign Ministry said in a statement today that the 37-year-old prisoner Abu Diak, who has been in Israeli custody for 17 years, is suffering from intestinal cancer and his condition deteriorated as a result of deliberate medical negligence which led to severe kidney and pulmonary failure which worsened his condition.
The Foreign Ministry pointed to the escalation of violations by the occupation authorities against about six thousand prisoners in its detention centers, including 700 prisoners suffering from chronic diseases, calling on international bodies to work to detect and expose the crimes of the occupation against prisoners and hold the perpetrators accountable.
