Public and private mass transportation stops in the governorates

At 8:00 pm, Monday, all public and private means of transportation within the governorates were stopped, based on the decision taken by the Council of Ministers yesterday as part of precautionary measures to address the Corona virus and prevent its spread.

And tomorrow, Tuesday, at the same time, the measures to reduce the movement of transport will be completed by stopping the public and private mass transportation between the governorates, provided that the ministries, unions and productive private sector establishments are committed to securing transportation for their alternate workers in accordance with specific requirements.

The Director General of the Internal Transport Company in Damascus and its countryside, Engineer Samer Haddad, stated to SANA that the aim of the decision is to reduce congestion in order to protect the safety of citizens and ensure the application of precautionary measures to address the Corona virus, as is the case in all countries of the world, indicating that transportation will resume after two weeks unless an extension of the suspension decision is issued.

Engineer Haddad indicated that the internal transportation company will provide transportation service for industrial cities whose work requires the continuation of the production process, as well as transportation for ministries and public agencies whose work requires continuity during the holiday period upon its request.
