Preliminary report: Volunteers from the Etzion-Yehuda rescue unit were called this evening (Wednesday) to rescue a soldier who fell into a deep pit in the Beit Guvrin area, near Road 35. The soldier fell while he was apparently navigating or training.
His condition at this stage is unclear, but it is known that he is conscious and communicating with the forces working to rescue him.

Preliminary specifications indicate that this is a pit about 20 meters deep.
Volunteers from the Etzion-Yehuda rescue unit, including detection, medical and TGH teams, are now making their way to the scene together with the police of the Israel Police's Mateh Yehuda station.
