Geretsried - At Karl-Lederer-Platz there has been a problem every now and then since its redesign. In addition to the traffic management, one or the other initially complained that the concerns of people with disabilities were not sufficiently taken into account. At that time, there were still no grooves milled in the floor covering, so-called tactile elements, which serve the visually impaired as orientation on the barrier-free space. This means that the Karl-Lederer-Platz is "ideally equipped", emphasized Sabine Lorenz (CSU) in the city council. "We wanted a place that had no thresholds."
In the most recent city council meeting, she submitted her first report as a speaker for social affairs, inclusion and integration.
In doing so, she dealt a swipe.
City council colleagues had carried out an inspection on Karl-Lederer-Platz with the disability officer of the district.
That surprised her, said Lorenz.
"If you don't involve the city's disability officer, you should at least take the building authority with you." That would have meant a lot of work with the resulting correspondence.

Lorenz expressly praised the employees of the city administration in their report.
“They do a great job,” said the speaker.
Your contact person in the building authority would react immediately if they passed on information from citizens about stumbling blocks in the city area.
In addition, she is very closely involved in all construction work in the city.
An important task is to make the bus stops accessible by 2024.

Sabine Lorenz was rather dissatisfied with the subject of asylum.
"The responsible employee in the city has been on sick leave for a long time," says Lorenz.
The contact to the asylum counseling and care "help from person to person" is difficult, and meetings with the asylum helpers could not take place due to the corona pandemic.
However, she is in good contact with the AWO and Caritas.
Overall, Lorenz gave the integration in Geretsried, home of many cultures and nationalities, a good report.
She is pleased that a meeting place is being created in the former pharmacy on Johannisplatz.
The regular integration forum, the Stein neighborhood meeting place and the commitment of the Geretsried youth and social work sponsoring association are also important.
