Because papers and concepts are not enough, UBZ chairman Stephan Griebel knows.
Above all, adds UBZ councilor Karl Toth, flood protection is an issue for the entire ILE region.

The twelve-page paper of the UBZ, which they want to present to the local council soon, deals with measures in the Zollinger community area.
Griebel and Toth refer to all the suggestions and suggestions that have been listed in it as a “catalog”.
The UBZ fully acknowledge that some measures have already been implemented: The large retention basin on the outskirts of Flitzing is just as much a part of it as the inner-city retention basin in Palzing or the trenches in Rotnpeckstrasse and in the parish ranger, which were implemented in 2020.
Catalog cannot be implemented by a breeze
The UBZ is also aware that flood protection is not something that can be done quickly, you need a lot of patience.
It is all the more important to start planning at an early stage.
In addition, the municipality could not do everything on its own, the water management office and private property owners would have to play along.
Nevertheless: under the motto "hold back - divert - pass through" there is still a lot to be done.
This already begins with incentives for the property owners to seep the rainwater onto their own property, as stipulated in the new contribution and fee statutes.
In order to make this appear more attractive, the advisory services should be expanded.
The UBZ praised the way in which the community itself drains the rainwater on the school premises is “exemplary”.

The list of necessary measures is long
In order to slow down the runoff of water during heavy rain events, water retention measures are a very good alternative, according to the UBZ. Therefore, a transverse construction along the Hütgrabenbach above the Palzinger sports grounds is proposed, the renaturation of the Siechenbach including rain retention basin at the confluence of the FS 27 in State Road 2054 is suggested, and retention basins between Flitzing and Harland are also requested. Further restraint measures were to be put in place between Flitzing and Osterimbach, the course of the brook between Osterimbach and Gerlhausen was to be widened, and the embankments that had been made in recent years were to be dismantled. Between Anglberg and Thann, a crossbar could be built northwest of the renatured gravel mining area.Create a rainwater retention basin near Anglberg between the railway line and the Amper Canal - these are some of the points from the catalog of measures.
One of the proposed measures for a better drainage concerns the Flitzinger Bach: It could be led past Zolling in the east, which would, however, require a completely new brook bed and a crossing under the Amper Canal.
This would relieve the culvert on the Forellenweg - one of the very critical points in Zolling.
And something else could protect against flooding: The Zolling sewage network is contaminated with up to 40 percent external water.
The reason is leaks.
After all: the sewer inspection has been completed and the renovation planning is currently being worked on.
It is also important to consult with other communities such as Wolfersdorf and Attenkirchen, as some streams arise on their community grounds.
ILE is in demand
And then there is the ILE Kulturraum Ampertal, emphasizes Toth: Although some points for flood protection are listed in the project list decided in 2018, nothing or little has happened so far.
Therefore: "The prioritization of the ITU projects urgently needs to be scrutinized." Similar in Zolling: The integrated flood protection concept of the municipality has not been implemented to the extent "as it would have been desirable", not least due to a lack of sufficient planning capacities in the building authority.
And then the UBZ have another tip for the citizens: In case of doubt, even the best precautionary measures will not help against storms such as in the Ahr valley.
And that's why citizens should seek insurance against natural hazards in good time.
