Today, Aleppo Governorate hosted the event of lighting the Christmas tree and New Year's Eve in Al-Filat Street in the vicinity of the Chaldean Church and Al-Tawhid Mosque.
Avo Khoshvian, executive director of the Cilicia and New Generation Cultural Associations, told SANA reporter that on this day every year, the Christmas tree is lit as a symbol of peace, which coincided with the anniversary of Aleppo's victory over terrorism.
In turn, Monsignor Elias Adas, the Attorney General of the Maronite Archdiocese of Aleppo, stated that lighting the Christmas tree confirms the message of peace and expresses victory despite all the conditions that Syrians are living through from an unjust economic siege.
For his part, George Bakhash, Secretary of the Aleppo Provincial Council, drew attention to the symbolism of the Christmas tree, which means life, new birth and hope for a better future.
Bakhash indicated that the goal of the event was to pay tribute to the martyrs, thanks to whom Aleppo won over terrorism and security and safety returned to it.
