Due to the heavy traffic, it is becoming increasingly dangerous for students to cross the B472 near Wendling.

The municipality now wants to make the way to the bus stop safer.

Irschenberg

– Convoy traffic on the B 472 from Miesbach to Irschenberg is more the rule than the exception.

No wonder, since this is one of the three major feeder roads to the Miesbach district.

What is sometimes exhausting for car and truck drivers hits pedestrians even harder.

You need a lot of courage and a brisk step to be able to cross the main road unscathed in a gap in traffic.

In the Irschenberg municipal council, a particularly neuralgic area was now the topic: the bus stop diagonally opposite the OMV filling station near Wendling.

Klaus Waldschütz (independent) made sure that this point was on the agenda.

He had applied for a crossing aid to be built here on the B 472 to enable school children to take a slightly less dangerous route to the bus stop.

Waldschütz cited the small traffic island near Schwaig as a model.

This has ensured a significant improvement in the situation, according to Waldschütz.

Appraisal should clarify costs

Mayor Klaus Meixner (CSU) welcomed the move. "It's a difficult chapter, because the road is really wide there." The municipality had already been active and had spoken to the responsible state building authority. This played the ball back to the town hall and asked them to commission an engineering report to clarify the costs. An on-site visit - including with police representatives - showed that a system like the one in Schwaig could also be used at the bus stop near Wendling. The construction effort would be limited, since the artificial curbs would only be glued to the asphalt.

Franz-Anian Nirschl (FWG Irschenberg) suggested checking other potential danger spots on the B 472.

"We could then join in." Meixner promised to bring this up in the talks.

"We'll address that."
