The renovation of the town hall in Geretsried is progressing.

The toilet in the meeting room will soon be modernized and renovated.

New offices are created.

Geretsried - In the attic of the town hall there is a relic from days long gone.

The tiles in the toilets in the large meeting room probably date from the 1970s/1980s.

The sanitary area is to be renewed soon in the course of the town hall renovation.

According to Mayor Michael Müller, he was getting on in years.

The renovation of the listed administration building in Geretsried has been going on for some time.

The aim is to meet fire protection requirements, tidy up the corridors and create additional offices.

In the meantime, almost all fire protection doors in the corridor area have been set, reported Janina Kleiber from the building authority at the last city council meeting before the summer break.

"There is now space for two workstations in the reception area."

New offices in the former caretaker's apartment and under the roof

The former caretaker's apartment above the council chambers was redesigned so that the IT department could move there, says Kleiber.

There are now seven workplaces in four offices.

"There are still two windows missing and a breakthrough to the stairwell, but that wasn't possible in the short time available." Because IT had to clear the top floor because the next work was due there.

The roof needs to be redone.

The city council had advocated raising the roof and installing dormer windows to make room for additional desks.

"We got the building permit," says Kleiber.

However, the monument protection does not agree with the increase in the knee wall.

Now you had to reschedule in order to still get enough jobs.

The city council approved the plan with one dissenting vote (Arthur Wolfseher, SPD).

Town hall conversion in Geretsried: Rochade in the entire building

Instead of two open-plan offices, it now provides for a mixture of large and individual offices, with the scope being expanded to include the former IT area.

“That way we would have all the jobs.” From spring 2023, the building and environmental authority, which has so far been located on the ground floor, will use the new rooms.

This allows castling throughout the building.

The regulatory office is to move into the current building authority.

The side wing of the ground floor will also house the department head of the Citizens' Registration Office, business development and the staff council.

This in turn ensures capacities in the registration office and registry office.

No stone is left unturned on the upper floor either.

The press office will have an additional room there, and the conference table from the mayor's office will move to a separate room.

"It can then also be used for parliamentary group meetings and in day-to-day operations," explained the head of the town hall.

In addition, the copier had to be removed from the waiting area – if only for reasons of data protection.

One floor above, in front of the meeting room, the administration also wants to work on the appearance.

According to Kleiber, there is an idea to downsize and renew the sanitary facilities – toilets for men and women.

“Then we would have a larger reception area.” A “reasonable cloakroom” and a kitchenette would be desirable.

Architect Klaus Kehrbaum also suggested a pane to show the bell tower behind it.

Incidentally, the only shower in the town hall is in the women's toilet.

That's not exactly ideal.

Kleiber: "We are considering moving it to the disabled toilet on the ground floor." sw
