While the food had already become more expensive in the spring, Peter Lössel says he now has to raise the beer prices.

Half a liter of barley juice at the autumn folk festival should cost 20 cents more, confirmed Peter Lössel on Thursday shortly before the start of the folk festival at Nuremberg's dozen pond.

For the typical Seidla, as the Franconians affectionately call the half, Lössel now has to charge 4.70 instead of 4.50 euros due to the current inflation.

"There's no other way," says Peter Lössel.

Nuremberg folk festival: "The prices for the food remain the same"

After all, not all prices on the menu would be increased.

"The prices for the food remain the same." For example, Lössel continues to charge 11.60 euros for a portion of the crispy grilled chicken.

Before the pandemic break, half a “Gigerla” would only have cost 9.90 euros.

Lössel already increased the food prices at the restart after the Corona break in the spring of this year.

These price increases are now almost wasteland again.

"Actually, we should have increased the food prices again because energy has already become 30 percent more expensive," says Lössel, annoyed.

In addition, food prices have skyrocketed.

The cost of chicken alone would have increased by EUR 1.20 per kilo compared to spring.

"That's a bunch of stuff," says Lössel and cuts up one of his crispy Gigerla.

How many chickens do the Lössels sell per festival?

"There could always be more," says Lössel and laughs.

12 facts about the Nuremberg folk festival

The 126th Nuremberg Autumn Folk Festival will open on Friday (August 26) and will last until September 11 this year.

According to the Tucher festival host Fritz Striegel, the city of Erlangen charged too high fees for the festival hosts and showmen at the Erlangen Bergkirchweih.
