In almost exactly a year, elementary and middle school students will be moving into their new home in Markt Schwaben for the first time.
We visited the current construction site.

– Almost exactly in a year to the day, if nothing unforeseen should happen, well over 800 elementary and middle school students in Markt Schwaben will be able to move into a brand new school building on Neusatzer Straße.
A building that will then be the most modern that is possible in school construction today.
In many nooks and crannies of the huge new building, there are already indications of what the two schools, which will merge into one another, will one day look like.
Michael Stolze definitely has the fantasy of being able to imagine everything in its finished state.
On average once a week, as the client, so to speak, he drops by to find out about the progress of the work.
A first point of contact for the mayor is site manager Christian Kirschning.
Overall, the specialist looks satisfied these days, although there were also delays in deliveries - because of Corona and the ongoing war.
For example with the wood for the outer facade.
Silver fir is processed here, which has the special property of fading relatively quickly.
Something wanted, as Stolze knows.
In the upper part of the facade you can clearly see every effect, the deeper you look, the newer everything looks.
The structure of the façade should also be reflected in the huge exposed concrete elements inside, so it is believed.
The work there continues with an average of between 30 and 40 workers.
At the end of the holidays there will be significantly more.
Doors to be installed soon
the floors will soon be laid and wall coatings applied in places.
The open space design will also start on October 4th.
Wood deliveries have been delayed
The building envelope is closed.
That means: The construction site is winterized.
So it can be worked through with the help of a construction heater.
Structural completion is scheduled for April or May 2023, after which the interior furniture will follow.
Much can already be seen.
For example the IT lines for the future digital boards, the devices for the ventilation.
Radiators are already installed but still wrapped in foil.
In order to guarantee the room acoustics, sails will soon be lowered from the ceilings, explains Stolze during a tour with the EZ.
With shining eyes, he meanwhile looks into the future middle school auditorium with its large, almost stage-like staircase and the huge light shaft above the large hall.
It is easy to imagine that not only certificates will be handed over here, but also that cultural events from the music school or Vhs will take place.
Stolze speaks of a "high degree of exploitation" that they are striving for together.

The same applies to the sports hall and the multi-purpose room in front of it.
During the last few days there have already been initial talks with the headmasters.
Goal: to develop a concept for the future use of the sports facility.
The schools as first users, then the Vhs etc. and of course the sports clubs.
With three large halls in the village, one should be well prepared, hopes the head of the town hall.
Knowing that in this sector all desires can never be satisfied.

All construction site tours offered by the municipality were recently fully booked.
After the holidays, there will be more tours for interested parties, every other Saturday, by the way.
