The Planegg volunteer fire brigade went to great lengths to say goodbye to Martin Heizer after twelve years as 1st Commander and six years earlier as 2nd Commander.
He was picked up last Friday evening with a fire brigade quad that the Planeggers had borrowed from their colleagues in Oberschleißheim.
Planegg
– The comrades were already waiting in front of the fire station on Pasinger Strasse, along with representatives from the neighboring fire departments, the municipal administration, the municipal council and Heizer's family.
Father Peter Heizer and brother Andreas Heizer are also members of the fire brigade.
Martin Heizer and his wife Alexandra walked across a red carpet while the guests stood in line and applauded.
Planegg's Mayor Hermann Nafziger thanked them for the many years of good cooperation.
As a farewell gift, the District Fire Inspectorate presented a deck chair in the design of the fire brigade with a name tag.
The comrades of the Planegger Wehrer combined two of Heizer's hobbyhorses into an art object.
The commander of many years is committed to respiratory protection training and had promoted the purchase of the three rescue firefighting vehicles (HLF), which have been in service since 2020.
Now he was given a halved breathing air bottle, inside which the three HLFs were immortalized with airbrush technology.
"The gets a place of honor in the party room," says Heizer.
