"Who needs the judges if they don't rule as we wish?" lament leftists, instead of simply sending Netanyahu to prison or at least retirement

The wild attack on the judges in the thousands of cases exposes the astonishing hypocrisy of the "Just Not Bibi" camp. In a very short period of time, literally a few days, this camp was turned upside down.

He has shed the last vestiges of dishonor, replacing them with a burning hatred of the court, which only yesterday he presented as a paragon of impartiality and the last bastion of democracy.

The apparent collapse of the accusations against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu brings out the worst from his haters – the truth. Some of them begin to excuse the indictments with a chilling admission that no one actually expected the charges to be examined in a legal proceeding. Others argue that the floor is crooked, or in this case, that the judges are not good.

"Who needs the judges if they don't rule as we please?" lament leftists in studios and on social media, pouring rivers of mud on the three people on trial who dare to act objectively, act fearlessly and weigh evidence – instead of simply sending Benjamin Netanyahu to prison, or at least to retirement, as the left demands and expects them to.

What is so pathetic about this play? The remarkable ease of reversal, of course. Until now, "Just Not Bibi" members have been accustomed to chanting slogans in favor of an independent judiciary and praising its employees. In their eyes, the judges resembled the priests of justice – or at least that's what we were told. This perception evaporated abruptly when the judges in the thousands cases gave free rein to their understanding that the prosecution's position was not convincing. Suddenly, they stopped being darlings of the left, and went from being defenders of democracy to miserables.

Former State Prosecutor Moshe Lador called the judges' conduct a "terror attack." Does anyone have any doubt that if a right-winger had spoken in such inciting language about those on trial, and even during the trial, Lador himself and his ilk would have crucified him? It was quite clear that frustration was speaking from his throat. The frustration comes from the fact that the justices are not fulfilling the order to bring Netanyahu's head on the verdict platter.

Even if we ignore the lashing out at Justices Friedman-Feldman, Bar-Am and Shaham, the content of the "Just Not Bibi" proponents speaks for itself: it turns out that their loyalty to the rule of law was a misrepresentation, and nothing more. They hoped that the legal tool would save them from the right-wing regime and its leader, and as long as this hope had something to base itself on, they praised the tool. Now, as long as everyone internalizes that the files of the thousands will not move Netanyahu from his seat, the tool that did not deliver the result will be thrown to the dogs, in all respects.

You don't have to be a prophet to understand that the left's anger at the judges will only grow, and that the tone will rise. If their non-binding statement about the futility of accusing Netanyahu of bribery led to a vicious and unprecedented wave of attacks, what will they say about them when the time comes for an acquittal?

To stand up to the slander against him, Benjamin Netanyahu had to grow the skin of an elephant. Now its judges will also have to adapt a thick skin, because the sharp arrows that only the left knows how to stick at its victims are already on the way.
