Real estate agents, nurses… professions sought after despite the crisis

2020-05-12T18:39:12.349Z

What are the trades for which demand has plunged with the health crisis and those which are on the contrary very sought after? The R group

Looking for a job in the coronavirus era, mission impossible? Certainly not, reveals an exclusive study by the Randstad interim group which has compiled the data available on more than 11,000 job search sites since the end of February ( study carried out with SmartData, Randstad's big data solution which used data from more than 11,000 recruitment sites ). Admittedly, the unemployment rate has taken a historic leap since the start of the epidemic, climbing 7.1% in March and the number of job offers was halved in March and April on specialized sites . However, certain profiles are still in great demand by employers in various fields.

"This crisis is astonishing for several reasons," notes Frank Ribuot, president of the Randstad France group. Overview of the trades whose demand remains high and those which are suffering the full force of the health crisis.

Real estate agents still in high demand

Should we see the impact of these last eight weeks of confinement where the issue of housing has become of paramount importance for each of us? Across the territory, from Hauts-de-France to Provence, the professions of real estate agent and negotiator are popular. With 8,252 announcements published in April 2020, demand increased by 57% over one year in France. Note that this craze does not date from the beginning of the epidemic. Offers for these profiles were already far above average in February 2020, with 10,264 ads.

“The real estate sector is likely to experience many upheavals in the post-containment. One can imagine that the boom in telework will have an impact on office real estate. Companies will adapt to employees who will want to desert their office in the years to come, ”also points out Frank Ribuot. Just behind on the podium, let us point out the presence of maintenance technicians - who manage the maintenance of machines in the industry - but also famous “front lines” such as nurses.

Barmaid, waiters and investigators barely

Unsurprisingly, all of the hotel and restaurant trades, a sector shut down by the administrative closings decided on March 17, are the unloved of the Covid-19 epidemic. According to Randstad's data, the recruitment of bartenders, barmaids, line managers or receptionists is in free fall. But it is the job of an investigator - the person who conducts opinion polls face to face - who would have been the most exposed to the crisis. With only 201 announcements published in April 2020, the demand for investigators fell 88% in one month (1,695 announcements in March 2020).

We are still looking for psychologists and lawyers

The Randstad group refers to “unexpected” trades where demand has remained strong in recent weeks despite the crisis. But is it so surprising? To see the number of psychological listening cells created in companies, the profession of psychologist is undoubtedly in demand (with a 12% increase in requests between March and April). Likewise, companies have rarely needed as many legal officers to decipher legislative developments - 25% more requests between March and April. Let us also cite the "business managers" where the offers, few in number, were nevertheless maintained compared to 2019.

Already signs of recovery

Some sectors already seem to show some signs of a reboot. Energy production (gas and electricity) stands out with 807 offers published in the last week of April, knowing that demand increased by 92% in one week and 119% in one month. According to Randstad, wholesale and convenience stores have also picked up in the past two weeks.
