A request for approval of a class action lawsuit was submitted to the District Court in Lod against the Hudis company from Beit Castro, which operates clothing stores throughout the country and a trade website.
The amount of the class action is about NIS 2.5 million, and includes a large group of customers who received or purchased a gift card, tried to use the credit on the website, and more.
The main claims of the plaintiff, who is represented by lawyer Assaf Cohen, are the imposition of prohibited restrictions and damage to the customers' ability to fully redeem gift cards and credits.

The plaintiff is Osher Cohen, who bought a gift for her mother-in-law at one of the branches.
When the gift recipient arrived to exchange it, she chose another item and received a store credit voucher for the difference.
However, when she tried to redeem it on the trade website and purchase products that were at a significant discount, she was told that it was not possible to redeem a credit on the website.
When she purchased the products at the store later, she discovered that she would not be able to receive the discount on the website, and must pay full price, when according to the lawsuit this is a common issue: "Hudis regularly and systematically conducts on the website many attractive promotions that are offered only to purchasers on the website, and prevents the holders of credit and waiting vouchers To take part in them."

According to the lawsuit's request, Hudis imposes prohibited restrictions on the gift cards: on the one hand, the card itself is written "for redemption without restrictive conditions", but the company's regulations do contain restrictions on use, and thus Hudis hides information regarding the use of the credit.
In addition, Hudis gives some vouchers a short validity, contrary to the Consumer Protection Law.
Another claim is that the chain's credits are printed on plain paper when the writing fades and disappears after a short time and does not allow its realization.
It is further stated that this is an attempt by Hudis to circumvent the Consumer Protection Law and the protections that gift card buyers and recipients have, which allow them full and free use of the gift.

The lawsuit seeks to compensate all the relevant customers for the feeling that they were cheated, as well as the loss of time and inconvenience due to the necessity to go to the branch.
The plaintiff also demands that the restrictions on redemption be abolished, both in the context of the credit vouchers and in the context of the gift vouchers, or alternatively that these restrictions be clearly indicated in the branches and on the cards.
Additional requirements are to oblige Hudis to sell gift vouchers with a validity of no less than two years, as well as to oblige the company to give the consumer credits on paper with the inscription on it durable and not erased.
The HOODIES chain stated: "We have received the statement of claim and the issue is being examined by the company's legal advisory department."
