Carrefour announced on Wednesday that it had entered into “
exclusive negotiations
” with its competitor Intermarché to take over 31 stores, including 26 today under the Casino brand, which had earlier announced the sale of 288 hypermarkets and supermarkets to Auchan and Intermarché.
The five other stores "
will be purchased directly from Intermarché
", specifies Carrefour, according to which the park concerned represents 94,000 square meters of commercial space, "
i.e. 0.3% of the sales area of food distribution in France
", and a figure of annual business of around 400 million euros in 2022. “
The amount of the acquisition is not significant
,” says the distributor.
