Certain standards are so strange, so surprisingly disconnected from all reality, that they deserve to be included in a collection of the most beautiful pearls of administration.
For example, the ban on changing a light bulb in the civil service or the “chewing coefficient” for candidates for the post of gendarme!
This could be quite funny if it were not hopeless, when we know that the administrative millefeuille costs 60 billion euros each year, that 74 different codes govern our daily life and that a town hall is confronted with 400,000 standards on average.

Simplifying and reforming, however, is a consensual subject on which we should move quickly.
There already exists a State Secretariat for Simplification and we can even celebrate some great successes, particularly in terms of online administrative procedures.
But at the same time we continue to accumulate rules, we pile up and we paralyze.
With this consequence that many people give up, crushed by the weight of standards.

Whose fault is it ?
Perhaps the lack of common sense, the fact that we never listen to those who know.
