The candidates for the positions of security agents on the Olympic sites are still not rushing to the gate.
Almost five months before the Olympics, thousands of hands are still missing to carry out searches and pat-downs, check tickets... At the last census, at the beginning of February, 16,664 men and women had entered training in Île-de-France with a view to Paris 2024, and 10,222 of them had been recruited immediately by private security companies, generally paid a little more than the minimum wage.
“But there is no guarantee that we will find them all on the Olympic front line,” warns a specialist in the matter.
Around 25,000 agents will be needed to cover all needs at the Olympic venues.
While the profession – which has some 175,000 workers – is already under great strain, currently suffering from a labor shortage of 20,000 employees, this objective is far from being achieved.
To try to achieve this, institutions are increasing their targets, offering free accelerated training and employment guarantees during the Olympics.
