WATCH: The remake trailer for the successful series that is due out next month looks promising • The plot is metal with current US reality
The American cable network Preform (owned by Disney Corporation and ABC Channel and caters to a young age audience with series such as "Little Liars" and "The Foster Family") confirmed that after a successful pilot, she ordered ten episodes for a remake of "Table of Five," which will be airing with us this January.
A peek at the "Table of Five" 2020
The original series, which aired in 1994, told the story of the five Salinger children whose parents were killed in an accident by a drunk driver and had to raise themselves. The older brother, Charlie (whom Matthew Fox later starred in in the "Lost" series) is appointed his brother's guardian. The plot was filled with the hardships the family members went through, from coping with cancer, through alcohol addiction, spanking and unexpected pregnancies, to the siblings' crises.
The series found it difficult to obtain satisfactory ratings at the outset, however, in its second season, it was unexpectedly awarded the Golden Globe Award for Best Drama Series. Finally, the series survived six seasons and catapulted the careers of Neb Campbell, Scott Wolf and Jennifer Love Hewitt (who even received a daughter series canceled after only one season).
The remake of "Table of Five" will correspond with the current reality in the US, so the five brothers will be of Mexican descent and the story will begin with their parents being deported back to Mexico and having to live alone. The young cast will lead actor Brandon to Raconte, who played a successful role in "13 Reasons" Netflix.
The series will air from January 9th at 9:15 pm on yes DRAMA, STINGTV and yes VOD.
