Rolf Hoppe will no longer be able to watch "Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella" on Christmas Day this year. The actor who played the king in the fairy tale film died in November at the age of 87. But the cult around the film lives on. From December 24 to 28, the fairy tale will be shown on German television a total of twelve times on ten different channels.
The film is also very popular in the Czech Republic, where the story of Cinderella was made into a film more than 40 years ago. The Czech actress Libuse Safrankova, who has to grapple with her sadistic stepmother as a cinderella, suddenly became famous. At the end of the film, the self-confident young woman conquers the prince's heart - three magical hazelnuts also help her.
"Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella" is a retelling of the Cinderella fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm and was first broadcast in the cinema in 1973, only two years later the film was shown in West Germany. Since then it has been part of the Christmas and "Dinner for One" program of the New Year's Eve. Here you can find all dates for "Three hazelnuts for cinderella" on German television:
