ROME - As every year there will be many Italians who choose to wait for the new year outside the home. To be precise, 5.6 million customers in over 78,000 restaurants open for the New Year's Eve event. The latter slightly decreased compared to 2018 (-1.3%). But it will still be a New Year in the name of Made in Italy, because it will be toasted only with Italian bubbles in two out of three clubs. This is the forecast of the Italian Federation of Public Exercises (Fipe) for the New Year's Eve, which finds optimism among the operators who, in 3 out of 4 cases, consider the sold out in their premises quite likely. Specifically, 37.8% are absolutely convinced that there will be a full house, 37.8% consider it very probable and only 24.4% declare themselves skeptical.
"As far as the type of offer is concerned - explains Fipe - 8 out of 10 restaurants focus on the dinner, the others on the dinner and following the midnight party. The average expenditure for the first case will be 80 euros, rising to 105 for the second.
The total estimated turnover will amount to 445 million euros. In addition, by the end of the year there is a great deal of attention by restaurateurs towards Made in Italy products. In fact, out of a total of 1.6 million uncorked bottles, Italian sparkling wine will have exclusivity in 64% of the premises. In about 1 restaurant out of 4 you can choose whether to celebrate with local bubbles or champagne - he concludes - and only in just over 10% of the premises will the offer be limited to the famous French wine ".
