One study investigated the effect of celery seed extracts on blood pressure in rats with normal blood pressure and high blood pressure. Celery contains an herbal compound called afghanin, which plays a role in traditional Chinese medicine as an anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral and antioxidant.
